Champaign, OH:  Sing A Song

When you feel down and out…
Sing a song, it’ll make your day yeah yeah…
Here’s a time to shout…
Sing a song, it’ll make a way…
Sometimes it’s hard to care…
Sing a song, it’ll make your day…
A smile so hard to bear…
Sing a song, it’ll make a way…
(Sing A Song- Earth, Wind, and Fire)

Ok, my lovely local market of love customers…it was another amazing market, tonight, you all make me smile, you make me happy, and you make me laugh!

I’m not gonna lie…this has been a week to beat all weeks. A mixture of a whole lot of emotions, mishaps, excitement, and stress…all rolled into one. You all know that I am about to open a new shop, downtown, so that is taking up my time with planning, working, dreaming….and then, on top of that, it’s just been a very weird week.

So, today, as I cruised into the market, I felt everything else just dissolve. I love being with my people, love getting organized with my two very valuable assistants, love catching up with the customers…it just all rocked my night, made me happy, and well, it made me want to just sing a song!

Thanks to all of you…vendors, customers, assistants, YMCA…you are the best!

Now, get your own song to sing…groove your orders as only you can do, and show us some love!

The market is now open…rock it!

Peace and Love,
Cosmic Pam

My Daily Bread is back

My Daily Bread is back from a well needed vacation! Look for all their organic bakery items, jams, jellies and prepared foods back on the market website this weekend!

Group Buy: Pastured Butter

I am happy to welcome Ginny and Jimmy Franks of Southern Swiss Dairy to our family of local farmers! We will be getting our pastured butter from them going forward. I’ve had their butter and it is delicious! Can’t wait until we can get spring and summer butter – it’s a beautiful shade of dark yellow due to the abundance of green grass on the pasture.

Southern Swiss Dairy is a family operated and owned dairy located in Waynesboro, GA. They raise Brown Swiss cows on pasture. Their milk is low vat pasteurized and not homogenized. They use 40% butterfat cream to make their butters. We plan to have a group buy for their butter every 2 months to start off and potentially more frequently. Also we hope to add pints, quarts and gallons of cream once we see how everything goes.

So you may recall that we used to get our butter from another creamery. I decided to switch creameries because the farm we used to work with decided to outsource their butter. I could not verify that the dairies they get cream are from pasture raised cows, conventionally raised or even what they are fed. I will never have a product on the market that I would not 100% feel comfortable giving to my own family and this prompted the switch. I am very confident that you will not be disappointed. The price is even almost the same.

The largest size Southern Swiss sells their butter is 1lb (hand packed in wax paper). Unsalted and Salted (sea salt) will be listed. Since they are a smaller dairy we are limited on how many pounds are available. Don’t forget to order early!!

MARKET NEWS

_Welcome Double Bee Farm to Gwinnett Locally Grown!

Brady has been on GLG for a while offering half and quarter hogs but now we are getting some wonderful cuts from him!
All his hogs are fed non-GMO feed, veggies from the farm and whatever grasses they forage from the land. He is chemical free and believes that “Growing for the future is with our all natural products. Our philosophy is simple, natural is better for you!”
So check out what’s listed and watch for new items being added from Brady. If there’s something you’d like to see…e-mail me and we’ll work to get it! I’m hoping for bacon personally…and am working on that!
Let’s support him and show him we’re glad he’s here!!

An FYI for the veggie buyers out there, The Veggie Patch @ Bouchard Farms has been supplying many great vegetables! As we keep getting consistent low temperatures it is affecting their winter growing season. They are trying very hard to keep us supplied with as many organic items as they can. Spring is a better growing season and you will start to see more choices as they ramp up for peak season! Since only certain crops grow here in the winter, it’s not like they can produce all the things we see in the supermarket. All those items are flown in from all over. So hang in there…we will see more in the coming months! Please continue to support them and look forward to more yummy veggies!

I’m looking to post a survey real soon to see everyone’s interest in different items. We have opportunities to get some really cool items but there are minimum limits for some to get them offered on the Market. So be looking for that as I share the wonderful items available to us and see your interest!

Is anyone interested in Azure Standard? They are a group buy that is delivered once a month. We have the opportunity to participate….so go on
https://www.azurestandard.com. Please email me if you would like to participate!

_As Always….
_
Please share with friends and family about us so that we can give more people the opportunity to buy and eat healthy! Local farmers need our support to keep providing us with all the fresh foods! If we don’t give them enough business, it’s hard for them to continue to deliver to us. Please let’s not let that happen! Tell your friends about us so we can keep the Growers supported as this is how they make their living. *_

Thank you to all of you who support Gwinnett Locally Grown!

Browse through to see all the great Growers we have and maybe you will find something new!

We have Wilderness Family Naturals Coconut Sugar, Flour and Organic Popcorn in the Market for sale! When you come to pick up your order, check them out! They are also now online!

If there is something you’d like to see in the Market, please let me know! I would love your imput!

Remember…
The Market is extending their hours! The Market will now be open from 4:00 to 7:00pm!
Having said that, if you place an order with us, PLEASE remember to pick it up on Tuesday. As I am so grateful for your orders, I also have a family at home waiting on me too! We cannot hold orders, especially cold items due to limited refrigeration space, so please be courteous and come for your order.

ALFN Local Food Club:  Market Reminder!

As someone who recently delved back into the world of cubicles and recycled air, I’m here to tell you that there’s no better fuel for the work day than fantastic local food. Need a quick breakfast? Try some sourdough toast and muscadine wine jelly. Got a little more time? Throw some pastured eggs, arugula, and ricotta together for a tasty omlette that can only be made more delicious with a dollop of lemon drop pepper jelly. Toss one whole chicken, a few fresh herbs, and some quartered sweet potatoes into a crockpot, and you’ll have a hot dinner waiting for you when you get home, and leftovers for the rest of the week.

Just think, you could have all this and more if you order before The Market closes at noon!
